Today Rick Springfield released his album “Rocket Science” with a new video for the lead single “Light This Party Up.” It is the power-poppiest track on the album and definitely puts you in a good mood. My favorite song though is “Let Me In,” a thoughtful song with great lyrics about what Springfield writes best, the broken heart.
The first concert I ever bought tickets to was Rick’s tour off of “Working Class Dog.” I wore out my cassette of WCD’s 32-minutes of 10 amazing power-pop tracks. That album is still my favorite. I don’t expect him to recreate the feeling I got from repeated listens to WCD but I’m glad Rick is still rocking and making new albums.
