R.I.P Hamlet (2000-11/18/15)

09-05-10_1546
My beloved cat Hamlet passed away November 18, 2015, exactly one year ago today. He was almost 16 years old. He fought a valiant battle and was in remission from small cell lymphoma when his kidneys failed.

I loved him so much. My other cat Lucy R.I.P. (2000-2015) passed away last year in February, and I miss them both so much.

Happy New Year!

happy-new-year-resolutions-2016

It’s January 1, 2016 and I hope for you and me to have a great start to the new year. “Perfect Day” by Hoku is one of my favorite songs. When I play it, I have to dance around my apartment. The video is a song/movie mash-up as it was on the soundtrack to the film “Legally Blonde.” I love that movie which is all about exceeding your expectations and surpassing other people’s limitations and I find it inspirational. The song celebrates our uniqueness and how awesome we are and that no one can tear that down. That’s how I feel about 2016. No resolutions, just to be the best version of myself and be true to myself and surround myself with positive, supportive friends. Happy New Year to my lovely readers!

Thank you for a great year of blogging!

Dear lovely readers,

During my second year of blogging, I have enjoyed sharing everything with you (that’s fit to blog about!) WordPress has generated my year in review. I love stats as I like to see what’s being read and where my readers come from. It hasn’t been an easy year, but I’m happy to have my little blog take off a bit from being primarily an indie music blog to a place where I have shared posts about my relationship, my fitbit stats, my poetry, my local celebrities and day trips. The music is and will always be there. I hope you have found some nice posts to enjoy and I appreciate all of the likes and comments but mostly that you are reading this. I have some exciting things planned for 2016 and I hope to share it with you!

Grief

Now that my trip to Las Vegas is ending I am filled with grief. I escaped it for a week by taking a spontaneous vacation.

When I arrive home, there will be an empty apartment. I will never get over the loss of both Hamlet and Lucy in the same year.

Grief is not just about death. Ending my recent relationship for good is leaving an empty feeling inside. One that I will fill with friends and just as I don’t want another cat, I also don’t want another serious relationship.

Finally and unfortunately, my trip to Las Vegas caused an estrangement from my father.

When I think about it I realize that I am very strong. It’s pretty brave to spend 5 days and nights in Las Vegas by yourself. I made the best of it. I am however very much looking forward to going back to NYC.

2015 was a tough year. I’m really wishing 2016 will bring more joy into my life.

Excessive Garbage in Kew Gardens Cinema Park in #Queens

I am a resident for 10 years in Kew Gardens on Austin St. I have never seen so much garbage in the park behind the Kew Gardens Cinemas. Something must be done as this is unacceptable. The park is located between Lefferts Blvd and 84th Rd next to the Post Office and behind the Kew Gardens Cinemas. The theater staff does not clean the park. The Doe Fund was cleaning it for a brief time. The Dept of Sanitation doesn’t empty the overflowing trash cans. Kew Gardens is a beautiful neighborhood and deserves better.

img_6385liebsteraward

I’d like to thank Being Lydia for nominating me for a Liebster Award. I took a hiatus from blogging for the summer and I’m glad to be back involved in the blogging community. It’s been awhile since I accepted a blog award, so I thought it would be fun and also nice to share more about myself. The award has rules, so here we go!

The rules are:

1.Thank the person who nominated and link back to their blog.
2.Display the Liebster Award on your blog.
3.Share 11 random facts about yourself.
4.Answer the 11 questions you were asked.
5.Nominate 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers for the award, by asking them 11 new questions (or having them 6.Answer the questions you were asked).
7.Make sure to let the bloggers know you’ve nominated them!
8.And don’t forget to copy the rules into your post!
